Insulting People is an Ugly Vice

Here are my thoughts on this Vice Ganda brouhaha.

He started a joke...now the joke's on him.

This issue is a wake-up call not only for comedians to improve their craft but also for us, the audience, to seek higher forms of entertainment and to boycott "bakya" shows. The media created this perpetual cycle of idiocy: they present something bakya, the audience watch it and get used to it. You clamor for change, the media will say that the masses will not watch it, ergo lose ratings. Dear ABS CBN, GMA, and TV 5, is everything really just about the income and the revenue you make? Isn't it for the good of all for you guys to produce shows that enrich the Filipino instead of debasing them with the same shows over and over again? Is this the reason why, for all of my thirty-two years of existence, you still stick it out with your noon time shows, your Sunday concerts, and your afternoon and prime time drama?

Dear friends, let us be proactive about this. If the networks aren't willing to produce better shows, let's just switch our TVs off. Let them know that we no longer want the trash that they are showing.
